The poem really sets a stage and engenders expectations of exploration of unchartered territories and possibilities of our existence. It pulls me in because it makes me feel like the story will be a romantic story both of love and adventure for a grown-up Alice in a world with different rules and unbeforeseen places and circumstances. My interest is pricked.
